That's the beauty of cast iron plumbing. It had rusted through. We had to tear into the walls and ceilings of 4 rooms, but we finally got all of the cast iron replaced with PVC. What a freakin' mess. Thank goodness Jerry plumbs..I can't even imagine what that would have cost. It was enough to pay a handyman to patch and spray the walls and ceilings. There will be more. Oh yes, there will be more. Our next major expense is a roof. We HAVE to replace a section of it before winter or we very well could have leaking in the house. Blegh. My next house will be maintenance free.
