Out of my gourd!
I’m getting a surprising number of emails about Pumpkin that say something to the effect of “what does this do?” I think it should be pretty apparent - it doesn’t do much of anything.
Some of the iApp-a-Day apps are going to be like that - it’s the nature of the project. Trying to do an app every single day means that some are going to be super-simple to make time for the less-simple ones - and Pumpkin is pretty close to the simplest one I’ve got on my list of ideas. (At least right now… we’ll see how desperate I get as the month goes on…)
In the coming month, I hope to deliver a variety of different apps that try to use several of the the fundamental features that the iPhone platform has to offer - along with some that are just plain silly or fun. Some will no-doubt be duds - but I’m hoping that out of 31 apps (counting Pumpkin), that perhaps one or two will strike a chord with you in some way and bring a little joy or spark of inspiration into your life. In a way, I’m beginning to think of iApp-a-Day as an artistic expression in the sense that I’m treating the iPhone as a canvas and the code as paint. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey - and I hope I survive it!

No offence dude, but I’m not seeing Tuesday’s app on your calendar and its Wednesday already… did you fail on the second day?

I think what you’re doing is extremely cool and very unselfish. It’s rare that people these days want to make software “just to possibly make someone happy,” and yet here you are doing exactly that. So I just want to say for everyone who hasn’t, or can’t, or won’t… thanks. Thanks a lot.

Ah, nice one Sean, that was pretty dumb of me… I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

No big deal Tanc - you certainly weren’t alone in the confusion. (see most recent blog post and my inbox) So maybe I somehow conveyed something unclear on the site… I dunno. But it doesn’t matter now anyway. It’s almost November 1!
