Statistics Again
Ok, I don’t want to get in the habit of posting a stat every single day… but the magnitude of the numbers just keep prompting me to want to share.
Today, the hit total for the month (all 9 days of it) is up to 13,203,562! That’s just insanity. In the last 24 hours, there’s even been at least 2,000 hits from Apple-owned IPs (as far as I know, anyway) - which is a fun thing to track… Don’t get in trouble at work, guys!
Aside: Speaking of Apple… my wife’s one year old MacBook screen cracked for no good reason a few days ago after having just been returned from the shop for an inexplicable keyboard malfunction - but they won’t fix the LCD under AppleCare warranty as they insist it falls outside of what they cover even though it seems to me like their previous repair or shipping may have had something to do with it. Grrr… It’s a stupidly expensive fix, too. A little under half of what a whole new MacBook costs! *sigh*
According to my log tracker, I’ve done 108,525,065 KB worth of web traffic so far in November. If I’ve done the math right, that’s 11.5 GB per day on average. That’s a whole lot of bandwidth - and it’s all to one single server from hundreds of little hand-held computers.
(I probably shouldn’t brag about that… at the rate things are growing, that one little server is going to melt into a heaping pile by the end of the month…)
Oddly, the biggest referrer to http://www.iappaday.com/ is actually my blog. (#2 is Google searches.) Since my blog had about 2 readers before I started iApp-a-Day, I have to assume you all discovered the project when it was first added to Installer.app and via word of mouth. As far as I can tell, I’ve had almost no major tech blog coverage. (Unless I somehow missed it?) Grassroots, baby! ![]()
