Day 30: Drum
Here it is… the last app. It’s a drum - but you have to wave the phone/iPod around like a drum stick in order to make the sound. Your thumb controls the tone.
It’s been fun! I wanted to go out with a bit more of a bang - but I just didn’t have the time. I toyed with 3 different ideas yesterday trying to find something good, but ended up settling on the drum because it was actually something I could finish in time. I wanted to do a chat application, but that’s not a trivial thing and requires a bunch of server-side support in addition to the program that runs on the iPhone. Maybe some other day…
Thanks for sticking around and playing with everything! I hope you had some fun - and if you’re a dev, maybe my source code will come in handy for you. (I’ll get it updated later today with the final apps.)

November 30th, 2007 at 9:55 am
Thanks Sean! I have really enjoyed this past month. Thanks for all your hard work. I think the project was a huge success.
November 30th, 2007 at 10:26 am
Thanks Sean for giving me something to look forward to everyday. Thanks for sticking too it and really putting some sweet apps out there. Thanks also for giving me something to write about in my blog everyday, now I actually have to go out and find good stories. Lastly, I will always be willing to post about your apps and I am actually going to rate each and every app on a scale from 1-10 on the blog, so make sure you stop by and check it out. The link, in case you forgot, and for anyone else who wants to stop by is yournewfavoritevideogameblog.blogspot.com Don’t let the name fool you, I cover more iPhone than anything. So check it later today for the post. Thanks and hope to see some more apps from you soon!
November 30th, 2007 at 11:06 am
Sean those were some amazing apps! Probably some of my favorite apps right now, and it only took you a day for each one!!! You really have some talent. (Maybe you’ll do this again after a break….hint hint…january….). Anyway, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we REALLLLY hope you’ll be making some apps in the future, even if they don’t come out daily ;)!
Thanks for a GREAT and EXCITING MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 30th, 2007 at 11:11 am
Hey Sean How Bout An APP that Records Video On the Iphone , one major flaw apple had.. been trying to remember what i was gonna suggest for days finally came to me GL TY TY TY
November 30th, 2007 at 11:19 am
Wow, thanks again. That went quick (for us at least)! maybe others will see it as a challenge and do the same hehe
November 30th, 2007 at 11:20 am
@Brandan: I’m not sure it’s possible without knowing more about the internals of the iPhone. I’ve tried to see how fast I can capture photos, but it is only a rate of something like 1 every 1.5 seconds or so which is clearly not fast enough for video.
November 30th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
So you actually get your life back now? That hardly seems fair to the rest of us! Thanks again for giving us all something to look forward to every morning. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
November 30th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
@ sean, thanks for the reply , how bout a browser that plays videos other than youtube ? Btw u did a great job hibernate for a few days get some sleep man , thanks a ton bro i now have no life again haha
November 30th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
@Sean re Brandan: then maybe a prog that would turn the stop-motion photography into anigifs?
I dont even have an iphone and ive really enjoyed following this, thanks much!
November 30th, 2007 at 2:10 pm
argh! What can I check every night on my itouch now.
November 30th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Smash up job, Sean. I salute you for the great service you’ve done for the community. You hard work is definitely appreciated.
November 30th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Sean: maybe make a program like what Branden described about a video recorder, but (im not sure if the iphone is like other cell phone cameras) make it so that the app just runs in the background like the screenshot program, and just records what the user is seeing in the camera app. (that is if the camera app lets you go into video mode before taking a picture like other phones) or make a completely new camera app, that does the same thing, only records it as a video instead of letting you take a picture.
November 30th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
It’s been an awesome month, Sean! I still have every single app on my ipod! (I did a symbolic link to the media partition, actually, so everything would fit.)
November 30th, 2007 at 2:36 pm

Thank you sooo very much for your hard work and dedication, Sean. You gave having an iPhone a whole new meaning. It’s because of you, I know what the iPhone is capable of. It’s because of you, I enjoy my iPhone so much more. It’s been a wonderful experience. Im sure this wont be the last we hear from you. You’re a household name sweetie.
I miss you already, lol.
Thanks again!
Muah!
November 30th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
You should be in the Guinness world records for more iphone apps in one month.
November 30th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Thanks Sean ¡ My favorite one was hockey ¡ Now that you have more time to rest, give us some apps on regular basis (every month ? )
November 30th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Sean, you made such an excellent example of how one person can have a lot of influence on so many others, when one is comitted and gives onesels seriously to a mission, a challenge, and to the others. Also, a glimpse on the possibilities of how mobile communications devices will drastically change everyone’s (the digitally-included) life, it’s just a matter of time, more and cheaper technology, and bright and creative people such as yourself.
I would really like to type a whole lot faster on a mobile device… Maybe a workaround would be not to actually type in at all, but through some other type of inputs… Sign me up for btmi brain to machine interface… heh
Cheers, respect and good wishes.
November 30th, 2007 at 8:50 pm

Keep it up! We cant wait for more!
Oh, and I support the I-app-a-week thing as well. That would be awesome for December or January.

thanks for all the cool apps you made this month. can you made another app for is?

December 1st, 2007 at 7:14 am
Hey Sean thanks for all the grat apps keep it up and I hope you make much more cool apps
December 1st, 2007 at 9:59 am
Thank you Sean, for giving up your free time and working so hard to make us happy. You’re one of the reasons I keep bending my coworkers ears on how great the iPhone is. Each day they’d come clustering around to see what new goodie was installed. You’re awesome man!
December 1st, 2007 at 10:13 am
Great job, nicely done. Are you planning to update or add to any of the apps you did this past month?
December 1st, 2007 at 11:00 am
Sean:
Sorry, I was too upset to post yesterday. I realized my iPhone would be once again consigned to relative dreariness. So instead, I refilled my Paxil prescription.
Please consider continuing your amazing developing on a less regular basis. I [hurk… hold on, got something in my eye] cannot stand the thought of never again enjoying one of your creations. Imagine the level of our community’s depression out here in Modified Apple-land this morning without our app-fix.
I’ve already told you how much you have earned all of our respect and admiration. You have left an undeniably huge mark on an already amazing device in a way that will be remembered, appreciated, and likely mimicked in the future. I truly hope your gift to us is returned a thousand-fold. A job well done, I say! Hope to read/see/hear from you soon. Best of luck to you, sir.
December 1st, 2007 at 3:16 pm
