Wallpaper 1.7
There are a few common requests for improvements to my iApp-a-Day apps that I see over and over again - one of the more popular ones has been a desire for a feature to save images from Wallpaper to the system’s Wallpaper folder so they show up in the phone/ipod Settings menu. (Especially useful for the poor iPod Touch users who don’t have a photo roll.) Well rest easy, folks - I have finally got around to adding that very feature! Enjoy.
Update: Fun stat.. in 24 hours, the new version was downloaded about 17,000 times. Also of note is that there have been 249,742 wallpaper uploads this month so far. (Not all unique - basically this is the number of times the Wallpaper app was started so far this month since each time it starts it uploads your wallpaper image.)
Update 2: If I correctly did the math on this, these numbers mean that someone in the world starts up Wallpaper approximately every 6.2 seconds! Amazing!

I would like to have a website where I can see alle the pictures and download them to my computer. Or tap on the screen to get directly the next wallpaper instead of waiting x-seconds.

Love the wallpaper app. How do you delete the wallpapers that have been added to the wallpaper section? Is there an easy way, or does it have to be done through winscp? If so, what file directory would it be stored in? Thanks.

Thumbnails for wallpapers are same size of the wallpaper, when I go in wallpaper library, the preview slide too low, there’s a way to save a wallpaper with a lowres thumbnail?
Congrats and thanks for this update, I think this is one of the most addictive app for my iPod

Great application
I’m a big fan of your mixup app you created, I have one question. Is it possible to add 7 letters? I want to add scrabble racks that include 7 letter bingo’s. Thanks.

Hey! I love Wallpaper. But for some reason, it won’t save pictures to my camera roll or my library. I’m on 1.1.3 dev JB. Any idea why? I can’t find the pictures in any directory on my iphone. Where do they go?
January 29th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
@Dan: Something changed in 1.1.3 and I haven’t upgraded yet, so I don’t know exactly what it is. I think the path may have changed or permissions to the directory might be different now. :-/

February 11th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
i uploaded manually several files to “Library/Wallpaper/” and it worked… except it only loaded PNG files… no JPG support
February 11th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
sorry, forgot to mention… i’m on 1.1.3 jailbroken
February 12th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Waitin’ on update for 1.1.3….thanks!
February 15th, 2008 at 12:13 am
The reason it’s not saving is that under 1.1.2, images were saved under var/root/…..
In 1.1.3, they are under var/mobile/…..
If you have winSCP installed, go to the current directory under mobile and copy the directory. Then make a symbolic link under root and they will save correctly.

How do you have created the thumbnails ? (It is not necessary perhaps ?)
When I dowload the ipod’s wallpaper they are encrypted. Do I need to encrypts mines before uploading to the ipod ?

Hey guys. some of you have requested a website where you can view all the images posted by wallpaper. I’ve made a little site to do that. http://www.wyldemann.com. it’s very alpha, but it functions. please leave your feedback. I’m working on an iphone version of the site so it looks better in the iphone browser.

Do you know any way I can load my photo in it and add back to the camera roll thru your app? Since I lost all my camera roll photo during restore, but I still have the backup, but I don’t have the .thm
I assume wallpaper can create the .THM file because it can add wallpaper to camera roll..
Thanks.. And hopefully a 1.1.3 version!

The method I use to save pics and email them from Wallpaper app on 1.1.3 is to save normally “Add to Camera Roll”, load up Mobile Finder, goto var/root/Media/DCIM/100APPLE and both .JPG and .THM formats are there of the pics that you have saved. Press “Send” on the bottom then “E-Mail”. I haven’t tried the method that Keith suggested above yet. This will have to do until an update comes out.

Merci
