Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl from MST3K) in her book "I Lived With My Parents and Other Tales of Terror.":

For a clerical assignment at a certain company, a woman trained me by pointing at office equipment and saying "So, ah, ya know, um, that's the, um, ya know-" I flled in: "Copier?" Quite pleased, she said, "You're catching on real quick!" At another temp assignment, a harried, impatient fellow showed me a stack of filling that needed to be done and asked me if I was "familiar with the alphabet."

There ya go, that's what training is like for most companies. They don't think you're an idiot. Most of the people they hire are idiots and you just have to put up with companies trying not to be over every bodies head.
